Kyu Myong Hwang

Professor Kyumyoung Hwang is a Christian counselor who has devoted many years to research, teaching, and field-based ministry in the area of counseling, faithfully integrating academic scholarship with pastoral practice. He emphasizes that human psychological suffering should not be treated merely as a technical issue, but approached through a deep understanding of persons created in the image of God. Academically, he has focused on integrating counseling theory and practice within a biblical worldview, while actively engaging in counseling ministry that serves churches and Christian communities. In particular, he has practiced counseling that carefully balances Scripture, empathy, and professional expertise in guiding wounded individuals and families toward healing and restoration. His ministry and teaching encourage students to understand counseling not simply as a profession, but as a calling to serve the Kingdom of God. He currently serves at Saint Paul Academy of Theology (PAT), where he is dedicated to equipping the next generation of ministry leaders to become counselors grounded in both faith and professional competence.
